Show started at around 9 pm-had an opening band play three songs-I
wasn't expecting one. Woman singer-good voice-bluesy type songs.

Ringo came on after the band had already come on stage and started playing-
then Ringo ran out and broke into "I'm the Greatest". Then he said his
Hello's to Cleveland, and went into "The No No song". Then he explained the
format of the All Starr Band, and handed it over to Burton Cummings-who got
a big welcome. He sang the Guess Who classic "No Time Left For You", in
fine voice I might add. Dave Edmunds then sang, I think a song called
either Girls are Lazy, or Girls are Easy-we wondered if it was from Earth
Girls Are Easy-we had no clue of this song! Then, DE handed the stage over
to local Joe Walsh-who always is well received in the Cleveland area
(he went to Kent State, and started the James Gang there-more on them later)
Joe went into a song on his Ordinary Average Guy CD, my favorite-but I'm
drawing a blank on the title-great drumming by both Ringo and Zak during the
song-which I think is called "In the Name of the Planet", or "What's Going On"
(not even close to Marvin Gaye's song. Anayway, very good-one of my favorites
of the night, but then I like it. He handed it over to fellow former Eagle
(and member of Poco) Timothy B. Schmidtt, who did up his hit song with the
Eagles: I Can't Tell You Why". Then Nils Lofgren sang a very good song
called "Shine With Me (?)" Then, the person who was received the best the
whole night, Todd Rungren sang "Bang on the Drum All Day" while beating on
a little snare at the front of the stage. Then, Ringo came back, and the
crowd was actually a little disappointed (not me, but they were!) and he
went into "Don't Go Where the Road Don't Go", and ended the first half of
the set with "Yellow Sub"-very good version too.

The second half of the set began with Joe Walsh introducing Cleveland
Browns football coach Bill Belichek (SP) who was in the crowd, and got the
spotlight. Then he introduced the James Gang, who came out on the stage and
performed one acoustic song-I don't know the name of it-maybe some help on
the net) Note: when I went to see JW last summer, there was also a James
Gang reunion-in fact, I had heard that there was talk of them doing another
album at some point, but I haven't heard anything lately. So, on with the
show... Todd did another very well received song-only one, acoustic, I
didn't know it, and don't know the name of it. Then, Tim Schmidt did a song
with only him playing acoustic guitar and singing lead, with Todd, DE, BC,
NL, the sax player-who you probably have seen in some Tina Turner videos,
and maybe Zak-there were three on each side-not Ringo, but maybe I skipped
one. I think it was called "Keep on Tryin to get over you"

Then, the band did one more turn each-Ringo came back and did 2 more songs,
Photograph, and the new one: "Weight of the World", which was well received
He also somewhere in the set did "You're 16". Todd did another song,
which I don't know the name of, but its very popular, and played on classic
rock stations often (If you kill me...?)One of the better performances was
also done by a jam with the sax player taking center stage soloing on the
sax, and then singing a few lines here and there-good. Dave Edmunds did "I
Hear You Knockin'", and Joe Walsh did "In the City", both of which were
performed well. One of the highlites of the show, was American Woman sung
by Burton Cummings-including the acoustic intro and all.

I might be missing a Ringo song, but I think that Photograph ended the
regular set, and then for the encore, the band came back and did Act
Naturally, and With a Little Help From My Friends.

If a review was done in the paper, I will fill in some of my holes, unless
someone else out there does first.

All in all, I recommend going to the show. I would've liked to have heard
It Don't Come Easy, or Nils do "Valentine", but all in all, I was satisfied
and recommend going.

Filling in a couple of holes based on the June 7 Atlanta show...

I didn't like her so much... but that wasn't what I was there to see.

The song was "Girl Talk", probably better known to Elvis Costello fans.

Didn't know it at all. Sorry.

>-great drumming by both Ringo and Zak during the

Whenever there was drumming - and Ringo wasn't singing - Ringo was on drums.
If you just focused on him, in the back center drumming, it was almost like
watching another group...

><Second half> Then he introduced the James Gang, who came out on the stage and

>performed one acoustic song-I don't know the name of it-maybe some help on

Here the concerts differed... In Atlanta, Burton Cummings came out first and
did a song which seemed to be called "Dreams of a Child" solo on piano,
followed by Dave Edmunds doing somthing I didn't know acoustic.

You got them all

Good show.

So they are with Ringo for the entire tour? "New Doctors in Heat" was
the name of the band, and I was not at all impressed with them.

While I wouldn't go that far, we are agreed that it was very nice to see
Ringo beating the skins again. I also think Zak and Ringo did a good job
coordinating their drumming. (Also interesting to compare and contrast
the drumming styles of the two Starkey's)

That wasn't Burton Cummings, but Nils Lofgren. Further, "solo" is not entirely
accurate. Zak, and at least one other member of the band was on stage.
However, you are correct that the majority of the band was not present.

I think they probably changed the show for that night only to accomodate the
"James Gang reunion".

Yup, in order:

[set 1]
I'm the Greatest
No, No Song

Don't Go Where the Road Don't Go

Yellow Submarine

[set 2]
You're Sixteen
Weight of the World
Photograph

[encore]
Act Naturally
With A Little Help From My Friends

>Good show.

Agreed. I would be interested in hearing about the venues, and about the
audience reception of the band at those two sites. Were the shows sold out,
and what was (roughly) the capacity. As I mentioned awhile back, I was
disappointed in everything *except* the actual concert...

Blossom Music Center, is located between Akron and Cleveland Ohio (well
sort of) and holds about 19K. It has a pavillion which has a capacity (and
this is total estimate) of around 8k, while the remainder of the people sit
on the lawn. The Pavillion was filled, and the lawn was somewhere between a
third and a half full. I would imagine that there were between 10-12, 000
people there, but I will get the review, and post the actually numbers.

Chastain Park holds about 8000 people. The place was quite full, but I
didn't hear that it sold out. Call it 7000-7500. The band was quite well
received, with Todd getting the biggest approval rating outside of Ringo.

People were wearing all sorts of concert material, mostly Beatle-related.
There were even a few wearing McCartney concert shirts. Don't know why!

How about ages of the attendees? I tended to be on the younger side
(I'm 26), but I saw at least 2 16-year-old girls bedecked with massive
quantities of Beatle pins. I'd say the average attendee age here was about 32.

I was way off-the actual reported attendance was only about 6000, so with
the pavillion being full, it must only hold around 4-5000. Surprisingly low
total-I thought it looked more populated.
